Whatsapp For Nokia Lumia 520

I am using the latest version of WhatsApp on my Windows Phone. My Windows Phone 8.1 Update (Nokia Lumia 520) has a problem that it keeps soft-resetting itself every now and then (i.e., only date and time are changed). Whenever this happens, I set the correct date and time. WhatsApp, however, has always worked fine.
But today after the phone reset itself and I set the correct date and time, WhatsApp is no longer opening on my phone. I have removed and re-inserted the battery, synced my Microsoft account, but nothing has worked out. When I try to open WhatsApp, it shows the message​ 'This version of WhatsApp has expired. Please go to the Windows Phone Store and update it.' But I cannot update it because it is the latest version. I am worried that I will lose extremely important conversations / chats if I uninstall and reinstall the app.
(1) Please suggest a way to solve the problem so that I can have access to ALL the past chat history on WhatsApp.
(2) The phone soft-resetting itself is getting on my nerves. Please suggest something that will get me rid of this annoying problem once and for all.
